The Challenge

Web Navigation deals in the processes of quote to cash. These processes are centered in the most intimate way with the client company's self-image and usually their competitive advantage. As a result programs implemented in this arena usually need to be modified to fit the customer's needs. The challenge is to provide the customer with modifications that meet their needs and at the same time maintain the integrity of the application being modified.

Web Navigation Solution

Web Navigation's solution is called Snap-Ins. All new applications developed by Web Navigation are designed to be modified to fit the customer's needs using this approach. Snap-Ins are components and interfaces that allow the new functionality without interfering with the core of the software. Snap-Ins can be adapted to other applications or new components that change the current application. They can be based on different kind of application models as well. If the application being modified is a client/server system, the Snap-In can be based on an Internet model. If the application is an enterprise model application, the new Snap-Ins might be client/server based. The Snap-In and the components related to it can be configured as necessary.

The Benefits

The customer realizes many benefits from this approach. Their specific business functions can be implemented and therefore their unique business processes can be maintained. The customer is assured of future compatibility regardless of version updates and service pack changes as a result of fixes and changes to the core application. In some cases the customer can develop their own business components and change the implementation of the Snap-Ins without compromising the application.
